Fresh Barhy Dates

We’re now harvesting our beautiful Barhy Dates. As you can see they are ripening on the Palm Trees and stay there until all the flesh is dark brown and sweet. They are a real delicacy and we had amazing feedback over the past few weeks. Try pureeing the dates with a little water and use as a sweetener for cakes, cereals, pancakes Dates have been a staple food in the Middle East and parts of South Asia for thousands of years. They are believed to have originated around the Persian Gulf, and have been cultivated since ancient times from Mesopotamia to prehistoric Egypt. The UAE is the fourth largest producer of Dates in the world.
Fresh Dates are a great energy booster with natural occurring sugars such as fructose, glucose and sucrose. They contain more potassium than bananas and are an excellent source of Vitamin C. Other properties include: calcium, fibre, amino acids, sulphur, iron, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, Vitamin A and a variety of B-complex Vitamins. Due to their high content of amino acids (20 different kinds) they are a great digestive aid.
