Although Beetroot is now classified as a cold weather vegetable, it can be grown in our climate all year long. We use a delicious Italian heirloom variety. Unlike most other root vegetables, the Beetroot’s swollen roots sit on top of the soil and not below. The whole plant can be eaten.
Golden Beetroot is yellow in colour and slightly less sweet than the red variety. They have a more mellow flavour and are ideal as a low sugar starch replacement. Try these as oven baked wedges or grated in salads, simply divine.
