Naturya Organic Maca Powder is made from crops that are grown just above 4,000 meters, in the Carhuamayo province of the ‘Meseta del Bombom’ (Bombom Plateau). Maca roots are dug out by hand using a small hoe called a cashu, to prevent damage, then dried naturally in the sun for 10-15 days.
Dried maca roots can be stored for seven years, but we rush ours to a local processing plant, where they’re meticulously weighed and cleaned, with only the finest roots selected for processing. These roots are washed again, disinfected and cut into small 10mm segments,
before being fully dehydrated at 45°C under humidity control.
The segments are finely milled into a powder of 60 mesh specification, then and tested for
microbes, before being packaged and shipped to the UK where we check the quality once more, then give them to you.
Maca is packed with Thiamin (B1), Riboflavin (B2), Vitamin B6, Calcium, Iron, Zinc, and Protein.
Joints and Bones:
We have over 200 bones in our bodies, connected together by clever joints. They protect our vital organs and keep us mobile and moving. Our bones need movement to stay strong, so daily exercise especially weight bearing, is essential. Stretching exercises like dance and yoga may also keep us from feeling stiff and creaky! Calcium and magnesium are champions for healthy strong bones. Protein is essential for the growth and development of bones in children and adults. We can get these through whole grains, pulses, beans, and you will find particularly high levels in barley grass, wheatgrass, chia, maca, and spirulina. By giving our joints and bones the right support we can help them to support us! Vitamin D also contributes towards the absorption of calcium into our bodies. We get little from our diets and most comes from sunlight on our skin. Research suggests that half of the adults and a quarter of children are vitamin D deficient. Mushroom powders like reishi and chaga are rich in vitamin D, and can help us get what we need.
Energy and Fatigue:
Mental fatigue may affect our memory, decision-making and behavior. But by giving our bodies the right nutrients, we can produce good, steady energy, keeping us focused and alert during the day. Sugary, refined foods, only give us a temporary lift. By eating a balanced diet based on slow-burning foods such as good fats, whole-grains, proteins and vegetables we can ensure balanced energy throughout the day. A deficiency in key vitamins may also cause us to feel fatigued. Especially a lack of Iron, magnesium, and b12. Meat, fish, pulses and dark leafy greens such as spinach and kale can ensure we are getting plenty, while spirulina or chlorella (some of nature’s richest sources of these nutrients) can help replace what we might be missing. Rest is vital for building up energy reserves. Our bodies rely on these reserves at busy times. We need to find time to relax and rest from our busy, stressful lifestyles and give our bodies the right nutrients to keep our batteries charged, so we can tackle the day.
