Celery, Heirloom ‘Red Stalk’, Organic

This is a wonderful traditional red celery variety that dates back the the late 17th century. Stalks are a striking purple, and turn pink when cooked. Full of old-fashioned celery flavour.

In general our  Celery is much thinner, less dense and has a very nice taste. It is believed that Celery was first cultivated by the ancient Egyptians, however it only became popular in Europe by the late 17th century.

Celery has numerous health benefits. It has blood pressure reducing properties and contains plant hormones that calm and soothe the central nervous system. The leaves are a great source of flavonoid antioxidants zeaxanthin, lutein and beta-carotene, which have antioxidant, cancer-protective and immune-boosting functions.
